Looking for a sign
The Kruger National Park is located on northeastern South Africa. It borders Mozambique and Eswatini in an area of 7,523 sq mi (19,633 sq km). You are able to drive for long periods through the asphalt or dirt roads and not see any activity. In fact, that is the thrill of the ride.
My visit to the Park was on the first days of 2018. It had rained above the average on the previous weeks and the vegetation was dense – which made it harder to spot animals at any distance.
While we advanced into the jungle, we had to look for footprints, knocked down trees or lagoons. Our eyes were even more ferocious to spot the next beautiful creature in this hide and seek game. The fun is that you never know what it will be.
Getting closer
Without any professional safari guide, it almost comes down to luck to be at the right time and in the right place. Gladly, I could enjoy a few moments close enough to different kinds of animals.
Kruger's most dangerous animals are considered the Big Five: buffalo, elephant, rhino, lion, and leopard. Within two days of safari, I've only missed the leopard.
